Hello! My name is Jeannie. I’m a journalist based out of Vancouver who reports on social issues.
In 2022, I graduated from UBC with a major in political science and after that, studied journalism at BCIT. While my studies in the social sciences developed the knowledge and analytical framework necessary to understand the most important issues of today, my studies in journalism equipped me with the power to compellingly report on these issues so that the stories I tell generate the improvements in social justice I desire.
My interest in social issues started at a young age. In the tenth grade, my interest in writing led me to join my school’s newspaper club. In my first semester writing for the paper, I began to pay more attention to the news. My increasing familiarity with current events soon burgeoned into an interest in issues such as systemic inequity. Since then, I have continued to hone my skills in investigation and writing through schooling and personal projects.
I am interested in exploring stories about how social issues impact individuals.
In my spare time, I can be found binging TV shows, keeping up with pop culture and travelling.
